The first time you set eyes on the person you married. The first time you got your friends together and played Goldeneye on Nintendo 64. The first time you got fired.
I’ve been hit by each of these moments. But it was the last one – being let go from my comfortable nine to five – that motivated me to embark down the path I’m on now. That was the moment that led me to start Proof, and it’s the reason that you’re reading this right now.
A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of speaking to a sold-out crowd at Creative Mornings in Nashville. It was a wonderful experience for me to share my personal journey amongst an audience of my creative peers, full of references to Saved by the Bell, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Lightsabers, Carrie Underwood’s wardrobe and Kevin Spacey’s wisdom – all to the tune of the three-act format of This American Life.
